Although Adelaide Professional Cleanings Services is able to remove majority of household stains as part of our standard carpet cleaning service there is always going to be some type of stains that will require individual tailored attention in addition to a standard carpet cleaning service.

The method that will need to be used for stain treatment will depend on the type of stain, the type of carpet, how old the stain is, as well as any self cleaning that you may have already performed on the stain.

It is important to act quickly once a stain has occurred on the carpe. The longer you leave the stain, the more chance it has to set into the carpet pile causing permanent damage to the colour pigments and carpet fibres.

Our experienced technicians have a professional product to eliminate just about any stain. If you need help to eliminate a stain contact us today for a free quote.

Stain Removal FAQ & Tips

  • How do I clean up a spill on my carpet?

First of all do not scrub or rub the spill on your carpet. Use a white cloth or a paper towel to lightly blot the liquid spill on your carpet. Keep blotting, changing your cloth regularly once colour starts to transfer on to it. Keep repeating this process until there is no more visible spill on your carpet transferring on to you white cloth.

  • What should I use on my carpet after a spill has occurred?

Do no soak the stain. Soaking your carpet with water may damage the backing of your carpet and cause the stain to seep through to your underlay as well. Simply use a damp white cloth or paper towel and lightly dab the spill on your carpet. Repeat this process until the visible stain has been removed.

  • Should I use a store bought carpet cleaner on my carpet?

Do not use any store bought carpet cleaners on stains, as they may set the stain in to your carpet pile and make it impossible to remove, or worse, cloud bleach your carpet. Store bought spot cleaners contain bleach in them.

  • A spill on my carpet has dried, what do I do now?

Spills that are left to dry and left for a long time will be harder to remove. Using a white damp cloth or paper towel lightly dab the stain until colour transfer from the carpet starts to appear on your cloth. Repeat this process until all traces of your spill no longer visible on your carpet and white cloth.

  • When should I get professional help to remove a stain from my carpet?

It is always best to call a professional carpet cleaner in to clean your carpets and to treat your stains if you want the best results and to avoid damaging your carpets.

  • Should I treat my own stains on carpet, rugs or upholstery?

The short answer to this is no! We would never recommend anyone to treat stains on their own carpet, rugs or upholstery themselves. If a stain is not treated properly, there is a chance that it can permanently damage the carpet pile or fabric.  This is why it is very important that the right stain treatment is applied, using the right equipment and removal method to be successful in lifting the stain from the carpet, rug or upholstery without any damage.

  • Will all stains on carpet, rugs or upholstery come out when professionally cleaned?

We can never guarantee that all stains will be removed during the cleaning process on carpet, rugs or upholstery. The reason depends on a number different reasons that can make it difficult to completely remove the stains.
